The Paul Jackson Library, as a part of Shepherds Theological Seminary, operates under the mission statement of the Seminary:

Our central purpose is to equip Christians to reflect the character of Jesus Christ and apply the truth of Christ’s Word to everyday life. Theological education is not simply a transfer of biblical knowledge but a growing process of the whole person. Shepherds Theological Seminary seeks to intentionally and strategically shape Christian intellect, character and spiritual awareness as well as equip its students to both communicate and apply their faith through their daily lives.

This mission is accomplished by equipping godly men and women for service to Christ in strategic fields of Christian ministry. This is to be accomplished through an educational program and an environment of spiritual fellowship and relationships which emphasize unreserved commitment to the worship of God, submission to the authority of the Scriptures, a life of personal holiness, the priority of the local church and the mission of penetrating the world with Truth.

The Paul Jackson Library serves as the resource, reference and research arm of the Seminary. The library exists to support the academic and scholarly programs of the Seminary with holdings that reflect depth, excellence and diversity to serve development of knowledge and to stimulate discernment in thought. While these holdings will by necessity encompass a wide spectrum of human knowledge and opinion, we must acknowledge that all such wisdom must be in submission to God’s Word. Jackson Library currently has 26,000 volumes cataloged. We have affiliation with the Association of Theological Libraries and are setting up an affiliation with SOLINET for interlibrary loans and searches.

Shepherds Theological Seminary library is named in memory of Paul K. Jackson, founding Seminary Professor of Old and New Testament at Shepherds Theological Seminary and well-loved by his students and members of Colonial Baptist Church where he was the Adult Ministry Pastor. Dr. Jackson earned his Baccalaureate and Master of Divinity degrees from Baptist Bible College in Clark’s Summit, Pennsylvania. He continued his graduate studies at Trinity Theological Seminary and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from The American Theological Seminary. Paul served as senior pastor in Draper, Pa. Under his leadership a new church building was erected. He was later called to the Cleveland Heights Baptist Church as an Associate Pastor and later as Senior Pastor.

Paul traveled to many countries preaching and teaching the Word of God. He served on the Board of the Association of Baptist for World Evangelism and assisted the Dean of Shepherds Theological Seminary in establishing a partnership with The Biblical Academy in Croatia.
